A little bit about me

headshot of Daphne Wallbridge

Through my online coaching practice, I leverage my experience and perspective as a superintendent to help new principals navigate their first years as educational leaders. Acting as their personal guide, I instill confidence, competence, and a sense of control by imparting fundamental principles and practical strategies essential for effective leadership.

I love learning, innovating, and creating valuable, practical content for leaders. And I believe this is why you're here! This site is my sacred space where I consolidate my creations and offer them to the world. It is my way of expressing myself while hopefully inspiring and helping other like-minded leaders along the way.

Rather than listing my credentials here (which you can find on my LinkedIn profile), I thought I would give you a more authentic, behind-the-scenes look at who I am as a leader, coach, wife, and mother.

I believe in surrounding myself with beauty every day - whether with flowers, fashion, books, music, or food. Life is too short to not enjoy its simple pleasures.

Family

I am blessed to be married to a wonderful man, David. We've been married for over 20 years. Together, we have a beautiful teenage daughter named Phoebe. Contrary to popular belief, she was not named after Phoebe from Friends. Instead, we named her after the Titaness Phoebe, who symbolized the moon, wisdom, and prophecy and was connected to the Oracle of Delphi.

As a family, we love to travel and experience new adventures together. These photos were taken during our last trip to Florence.

We got her when Phoebe was 6 years old. Being an only child, it was a welcome addition to her life! What I love most about Straw is that she has the ability to be totally absorbed by the present moment.

Those who think they have no time for exercise (or proper diet) will sooner or later have to find time for illness.

Weekly meal prepping and daily exercising are two other non-negotiables in my life. I view these practices through the lens of James Clear's 1% rule from Atomic Habits. Spending 10 to 20 minutes lifting weights might not seem impactful after a few days, but done regularly month after month, the results are incredible! The same goes for proper nutrition.

As a quick aside, I am a Peloton junkie! My favorite trainer is Callie Gullickson - she is fresh, fun, and always has a great playlist!

A Commitment to Daily Growth and Cultivation

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll often see early morning photos of me working on my latest book, course, or presentation. In life, I have some daily "non-negotiables," and devoting time daily to the growth and cultivation of my mind is one of them. One thing I often recommend is to make sure to read books and take courses in fields outside of education. Explore subjects like business, marketing, design thinking, or even photography! The point is to step outside your frame of reference to seek inspiration elsewhere and find creative ways to bring elements of these fields into your workspace. That is the secret to standing out as a unique leader!
